Movie Day: April 28th

[keywords: ]

The movie day DJ and I had scheduled for this friday (April 28th) had us set to watch United 93. It wasn't because I'm particularly interested in it, as I'm not, but for no other reason than there wasn't anything else worth really looking into that comes out that week.

Well, there wasn't. It seems a $60,000 opening weekend on two screens was enough to push Hard Candy into national release. Looks like I'll be seeing it after all! I'm looking forward to this if nothing else simply for the amazing performance I'm told Ellen Page gave.

DJ still not master of the obvious

The previews before Lucky Number Slevin contained a number of good films that I hope to go and see at some point, including Silent Hill and The Sentinel. Mashed in between these was a quicky advert involving a film festival somewhere. My friend DJ is a film nut, and as such the idea of a film festival has always appealed to him, but he has yet to have the chance to go to one. He informed me of this and then asked me if I had ever been to one before.

The question seems innocent enough I suppose, however DJ had spent the entire day with me and had even made a comment about the giant STAFF letters stenciled across the back of my T-Shirt. My T-Shirt for the International Horror & Sci-Fi Film Festival...which I looked down at, then at him, then at the shirt, then at him, before he caught on and said "Oh Yeah".

In other news why the hell is Hard Candy not going to play anywhere near me? I really, really want to see this movie. Am I going to have to pirate it?
