Hotlinking
An interesting discovery when glancing at my stats today. I've served an image 11.5k times so far in march. That's almost 6000 requests daily. (and it's still early on the second day)
The image in question? My hotlink image.
As you can see from the image anyone trying to use it should, upon reloading their page, note that something very very wrong has happened. Yet some folk continue to display it proudly, including this sterling example of everything that is wrong with MySpace, P@LI 4 LIF3, aka largedick, aka arab guy with "latinos stand up" as his theme song, aka some fucking tool that is obviously borderline retarded to have sat with that image in his 'who I'd like to meet' slot for about a month. (WARNING: this link is quite like a 1996 era personal page, if they had sucked a bit worse)
How do you NOT notice that?
My immediate thought on this is that I need to start having more fun with these people than the standard hotlink image as it doesn't seem to be working. Suggestions are, as always, welcome.

I’ve put quite some thought into what hotlin image to use myself. Although I never went through with it to spare my hostees the embarrassment, I thought particularly nasty porn or something borrowed from rotten.com would be a nice touch. Or get out the Photoshop and combine the two?

My only other thought is to make something so large they have to remove it… Or report his site to the abuse people. I’m having a similar issue with MySpace hotlinkers…
