James Doohan Dies...

Though his impact on my life has been mostly annoying (try being named Scottie and not resenting him) I'm very saddend to say that James Doohan, the actor who played Mr Scott in the popular series Star Trek, died today.

Mr Doohan, who probably singlehandedly decided the career path of at least a quarter of the worlds engineers was famous for the "Captain, she canna take anymore" type lines and of course you can't think of Kirk without thinking of "Beam me up Scotty"... Something I could really comfortably go my entire life without hearing again and never miss it.

Mr Doohan's ashes will be launched into space later this year making him the second trekker to do so, following Gene Roddenberry's example. So think of James the next time you pour our a little Romulan Ale for your homies.
