Whos Yo Daddy

For those of you who know me well, you know when I perform exceptionally well at something I will shout "Who's yo daddy?" and do a stupid little dance. The main problem with this is that no one will ever say "You are" without me holding them down or something as sinister.

All that ends soon.

Xian and I went to the hospital today and found out that she is as of today six weeks along in her pregnancy. Suddenly the nausea and extreme laziness are less a reason for worry and more a reason for joy. We are both quite happy with this, as it is something we have both wanted for quite some time but were becoming somewhat resolved to the thought that we would never be able to actually do it together. Xian is a flurry of activity, telling everything that moves of her state. I on the other hand am handling it in a calm and controlled manner... Short of calling close to everyone in my telephone directory and shopping for baby clothes on Amazon.com I really haven't done anything out of the ordinary.

An interesting thing (omen?) happened on the way home from the clinic where we received the news. The clinic is right down the street from our house, so we decided to walk. Not surprising since parking in downtown Los Angeles is a horrid affair. So we are walking our happy asses back home from the clinic when Xian looks down on the ground and spots a piece of paper that looks like a check.

Turning it over we see a check for $200 written out to CASH.

This being my middle name I wondered if god was being helpful or just having fun. But I doubt he works for the company that the check was from, so I went ahead and called the company to inform them I had the check. The receptionist who answered was quite relieved as it appears she was the one who dropped the check in Chinatown. She came and picked it up and all was well.

Xian still thinks I'm an idiot, but at least she says it with a smile on her face.

Having a baby is something that I have always wanted, at least somewhere in my thoughts. The reality is a little scary, but very exciting. I find myself praying that I have a well behaved child, rather than a ruffian like I was. The pure truth of it is, bundling my personality with Xian's seems a surefire way to generate a raging psychopath with a lot of issues. Hopefully (s)he gets Xian's looks and not her temper. :p

But regardless of the child being a boy or a girl, a pain or a pride. I look forward to the first time I can hold it in my arms and gently whisper in it's ear..
