Back Back Baka
So as you may have already guessed, I am back home from Los Angeles, with Xian moderately happily in tow.
We started out a day late not leaving until Thursday, we had to fix the damned car again, I got an awe inspiring deal from my mechanic in LA. CV joints/boots, All 4 brakes/rotors/etc.., Muffler, Tune Up + Oil Change all for the low low price of $465. I'm happy about that What I'm not happy about is the fact that I forgot to check and see if I had a spare More on that later.
The day before the trip I decided to prepare by going out and getting a pleasing buzz on while playing pool with Pakalolo. These was our first time meeting and with the fact that I hate everyone, yet for some reason tend to get along real well with him and tavit. Our first meeting was and I talk he listens kinda thing. I even called the next day to apologize for talking so fucking much. (There is more to this story but we shall protect the innocent)
The day of the move we packed everything and threw it in the car as fast as we could. We managed to leave the house around 4pm after lengthy discussion of call when you get there lalala with her cousins.
We made it almost to the border of Arizona.
We blew a tire.
I couldn't find the spare.
Before you make fun of me try to remember two things. First, I'm incredibly lazy. Second, I'm an incredible packer. I had so much shit in that trunk when I reached under to check for the spare there was nothing there. I'm so used to the tire taking up the whole wheel well that I never even tried to fit my hand further in. At any rate, we were in the middle of the desert, with no spare tire and only enough money for gas food and water all the way to Louisiana.
I called everyone I knew. On the off chance that they knew someone in Blythe, CA. Oddly enough, someone did. Divas friend has a cousin out in the area and he came out and had AAA tow the car to his house. He runs a migrant laborer town of some sort (50 duplexes that migrant farm workers use when the farms are being harvested there 6 months out of the year) and let us have an apartment for the night, then helped me change the tire and check the fluids, etc.. in the morning. I sooo appreciate their help, in case you guys read this I owe you both a debt.
When we finally left there we drove out to Mesa, AZ to hang out with my grandmother for a bit. Went out drinking and such. She let us borrow her camper for the evening and we spent our second night on the road. ( I was expecting to be in Louisiana by Saturday)
After leaving there it was just New Mexico and Texas. Let me say this about Texas, It's too fucking big. Houston is pretty at night. The rest of the state can bite my ass. Holy shit, thats a horrible place to drive through. The car was on its last breath (at least I thought) and I was scared to drive over the speed limit since I have a warrant for my arrest in California! w00t.. so it took like 20 hours to drive through that shithole. The highlight of the trip was staying in a little town in TX whose claim to fame is a David Crocket statue in the middle of town.
At any rate, besides a fella who really seemed like a serial killer striking up a conversation with me at the last rest stop in TX that's the whole trip.. Now I'm back on my network. No more Chinese windows for me!! No more Dial-up!! Wooo!
